Marlye Monfiston currently works as a Senior Policy & Program Advisor in the French-Language Teaching, Learning and Achievement Division of the Ministry of Education (FLTLAD) and she contributes her experience and expertise to the education sector. In this role, Marlye participates in the research and development of strategies, policies and program frameworks to address specific or systemic issues and needs of the Francophone community. Marlye is also one of the leaders of FLTLAD’s antiracism strategy developed in the past year and the lead facilitator of its antiracism committee.

Prior to joining the Ministry of Education, Marlye acquired and shared her experience through various roles in the private and public sectors. She practiced as an attorney in Montreal, worked as a trade-mark agent and associate in Toronto, as a trade-mark examiner and, as legal counsel at Justice Canada, in Ottawa. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in law (LL.B.) from the Université de Montréal in 1993 and is a member of the Barreau du Québec. In 2020, she earned her Distinguished Toastmaster certification, the highest distinction awarded by Toastmasters International (TI).
